Merry munching!

OK, so we're a bit behind with posting any munch updates. So let's just say that September, October, November and December were all well attended by Berkshire's finest and our friends from further afield. If you've not made it along yet there'll be plenty more in 2012 - mark your calendars for the second Thursday of each month. Better still, sign up to the Yahoo! group and get email reminders or you can use the usual social networks (but remember to save some social energy for when you actually get to the munch). Do check the FAQ for general DOs and DON'Ts and, remember, it's in a public place where we don't want to upset the neighbours (there's two DOs and DON'Ts to get you started).

Have a great Christmas and we look forward to seeing you in the New Year...

August Munch

The summer months are usually quiet for munches/clubs/events throughout the land, so it is with great pleasure that we saw at least 33 people attend the munch this month. I believe it's our busiest August to date. It was very nice to see some old faces return back to us, it's great you all keep in touch. And as usual, we have more new people join us.

We have our Munch Picnic on Saturday 13th August at 2pm - taking place in Caversham Court Gardens. A vanilla picnic open to all.

We have a page on Fetlife if you haven't already joined and we also post on Informed Consent.

Vintage in Reading

Something I thought might be of interest. Taking place at the Hexagon on 1st October from 10am - 4pm, this day of vintage sales, demonstrations and fun sounds fabulous!

July: A new record!

Blimey O'Reilly! Over 40 people at the munch this month. I counted up to 42 people but I think there were even more than this. We crammed into our usual spot at the front of the pub but had to spill out into the main bar area and the garden. Luckily it was a relatively quiet night for The Copa and we pretty much had the place to ourselves.

I managed to speak with most people to agree on a date for a picnic: August 13th in Caversham Court Gardens at 2pm. Everyone is welcome. This will be a vanilla event please, as the park is open to the public.

June Loons!

The June Munch was a bit quieter than normal, probably because I wasn't there AGAIN! I'm sorry folks, I promise with all my heart and heels I'll be there next month. Let's also try and collectively drum up some enthusiasm and post on IC, Fetlife etc. about the munch.

You might be interested to hear about an event in London next month. The Chap Olympiad - a delightfully themed sporting event. More details can be found at http://www.thechapolympiad.com/next-event and you are encouraged to dress up and bring a picnic! Tickets sell fast so get in quick for the last remaining few.

See you there,

May the Munch Force Be With You!

Errr, well, I wasn't there and even though I've asked some of you for comments on the evening you haven't come back to me. All I know is that Moonlight had a hangover the next day!

On this basis, I will assume you all had a great time and that you're looking forward to the next one.

April Munch

The Reading Munch occurs on the 2nd Thursday of every month and attracts between 25 and 35 people a month. We have over 120 members plus many more who haven't signed up to the Yahoo Group. Attire is strictly vanilla as the munch is held in a pub open to the public. Whilst our munch is not a place where you are guaranteed to score, you will meet new people who share similar interests and meet new friends.

If you've been considering for some time about coming along, then please do. Really, it's just a group of people who meet up in a local pub. We don't bite. Well, not in public!

March Madness

It was a bit quieter than normal this month, with about 25 people. It's nice to see recent newbies becoming newbie regulars! (does that even make sense?)

Don't forget in March Reading has a few events you may be interested in:

March 12th: Ministry of Burlesque @ Hexagon 8pm
March 18th: Vaudeville Rave @ Sub89 8pm
March 27th: Reading vintage fair @ Purple Turtle 12pm

If anyone is interested in meeting up at any of these events, drop me a line: orchid@readingmunch.org.uk.

February Munch

With over 30 people in February we took over (eventually) the back of the pub. I myself turned up late and exhausted so apologies if I didn't get to say hi. I'll try harder next time.

There are two burlesque events coming to town next month, if you're interested:

Ministry of Burlesque presents High Tease:
March 12th, Hexagon, £16

Vaudeville Rave: Sub89, Friar Street, March 18th, £12

Maybe we'll see you there.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all Reading Munchers!

January's Munch had a great turn out, with 33 people attending. It looked like everyone was really enjoying themselves and it was good to see all the newbies (about 10 of you) completely ingratiating into the conversations and laughter.

If you want to come along, it starts around 8pm every 2nd Thursday of the month and you will find us with a couple of cuddly toys on the tables (an orange Tigger and a purple cat!). Don't forget though, that the munch is held in a vanilla setting open to the public, so the dress code is strictly vanilla please.

Next Munch: February 10th

See you there!
