Directions & Parking

We meet on the second Wednesday of the month in The Purple Turtle, 9 Gun St, Reading, Berkshire RG1 2JR.

Parking is available at the Oracle, but let us know if you find better parking locations nearby.

And the last Monday of the month in The Outlook, 76-78 Kings Rd
Reading, Berkshire RG1 3BJ.

The pub is on the King's Road, on the town centre side of the Kennet & Avon canal. On the opposite side you will find the Queen's Road multi-storey car park, accessible from the A329. Other parking options include The Oracle and the railway station. You can also park on the street right outside the pub if you are lucky.

In both cases, people sometimes start arriving from 7pm, it's busy by 8pm.

Parking for the Reading Munch
(The personal views of a single female)

Whilst it can be possible to get parking in King's Road right out front of the Copa, that can never be guaranteed and with the one way system round the centre of Reading it can then be confusing to work your way back for a second pass.

I recommend Queen's Road for parking at the reasonable price of 2 pounds for any length of time after 6pm. Note: In December it can be quite full still after 7pm and you may have to drive up several levels, but most other months you can get parking on either of the two lower floors. I usually park there, so there is at least one person to accompany you walking back. I've never had any problems, though did once run into a homeless person setting up their bed in one of the lifts one December.

I did get caught once when Queen's Park multi-storey was closed for repainting the lines and had to park at the railway station and whilst you are more likely to find company walking back there as other people are heading to the station or to the main taxi rank (good for single females), it can cost an arm and a leg... okay, not quite a limb, but about 7 pounds for the evening.
